don herbert is mr. wizard. you remember mr. wizard. he had a science show for kids that aired on TV for decades. i used to watch him on nickelodeon after school in the mid-eighties. i photographed don in the garage of his home in bell canyon, and while he seemed very interested in photography in general he was distinctly uninterested in having his portrait taken for any more than a few minutes at a time. still, it’s nice to meet people i admire, even if they don’t want to meet me.
